What calcium acetate is
Chemical name: Calcium acetate. Formula Anhydrous: C4H6O4Ca; monohydrate: C4H6O4Ca·H2O, molecular weight Anhydrous: 158,17; monohydrate: 176,18. Anhydrous calcium acetate is a white, hygroscopic, bulky, crystalline solid with a slightly bitter taste. A slight odour of acetic acid may be present.
